Worship Leader:  Lorna Emata Goodwin

Lorna Emata Goodwin is a Speech Level Singing Instructor who began singing at the age of four. At the age of seven, and for the next ten years, Lorna sang lead with her six sibling all keyboard family band that became the Emata Family Entertainers touring nationally and internationally. It is from this rich background that instilled in her the love of jazz, classical, musicals, pop, r&b and later writing her own music.

She studied classical piano at San Jose State University and voice and theory at the Dick Grove School of Music in Los Angeles. She discovered Speech Level Singing and at the encouragement of master teacher, Dave Stroud, began to teach voice. She is in demand as a Speech Level Singing instructor for up and coming vocalists. Her students have released CD's of their own, perform on television nationally and internationally, are chosen for lead roles in musical theater, bands and various church and entertainment productions.

Her own voice can be heard on television and radio commercials, including Snappy Lube which won the prestigious Addy Award. She continues to free lance as a studio session singer, performing at private and corporate events, and at churches both as a worship leader and SLS clinician.

Full of joyful energy, Lorna has been a worship leader for over fifteen years and presently co-leads at Bayside Community Church in San Jose.  She and her husband John (who plays drums) live in San Jose.
