A Fresh Touch From Jesus
Matthew 28:16-20
Peace: the calm assurance that what God is doing is best
Hope: the confident expectation of something better ahead based on God’s promises
Patience: accepting a difficult situation without giving God a deadline for removing it.
Faith: Active confidence in the God who has revealed Himself
- Faith is believing the Word of God and acting upon it
– no matter how you feel
– knowing that God promises a good result
- Sin is the satisfying of a legitimate need in an illegitimate way
- We stray from God’s plan when we build our purpose for living around the satisfaction of our needs instead of the fulfilling of God’s will
- Though you may ask God to do something for you, he generally wants to do something in you
God wants to work in you: fear, frustration, purpose, joy
We try to do it our way and fail
1. Build your life around the people, purposes, and pleasures that will endure
- Matthew 28:16
- Allow God to weed out the pretenders
- Follow his directions
2. Build your life around the worship of Jesus
- Matthew 28:17-18
- Building a deeper, more intimate relationship
When in doubt:
Who has authority in heaven and on earth?
How much? ALL
Where did it come from? It was GIVEN
3. Build your life on the spiritual
- Matthew 28:19,20
GO! – live life with purpose
- Why don’t we go?
- Jesus isn’t speaking to me
- Someone else will do it
- What’s the rush? Apathy
- I have a better plan
- 5 things you do not build your life on:
- Not the material – things
- Not the financial – security
- Not the physical – appearance
- Not the emotionally satisfying – position, happiness
- Not the fleshly – pleasure
Make disciples – a shareable passion
Baptize – an observable commitment
Teaching them to observe – a well maintained routine
When faced with doubt, when face with an uncertain purpose, when faced with a daunting task:
“I am with you always.”
