The power of UNITY – ONENESS

The greatest example of misplaced ONENESS can unlock the secret for ONENESS in the church today: Genesis 11:1-7

1. One LANGUAGE (11:1-2)

2. One PLAN (11:3) – make bricks

3. One GOAL (11:4) – make a name for ourselves

4. One PEOPLE (11:5-7)

And the LORD said, “Behold, they are ONE people, and they have all ONE language, and this is only the beginning of what they will do. And NOTHING that they propose to do will now be IMPOSSIBLE for them. – Genesis 11:6

Key Thought: If this can be said about a group of people who are rebelling against God, imagine how God could use us when we unite around One Language, One Plan, One Goal, and truly become One People

1. One Language

• John 13:34-35 – known by love
• 1 Corinthians 13:1 – unless you have love, nothing you do matters
• Matthew 22:37-39 – our #1 goal as a church should be to teach each other how to love God and how to love each other

2. One Plan

• Matthew 28:19-20 – Make disciples by going, nurturing, and teaching

3. One Goal

• Make a name for ourselves versus proclaiming the greatness of the name that is above every name.
• Philippians 3:1-14 – I want to know Christ

4. One People

• Titus 2:14 – a people eager to do what is good

Nothing is impossible when:

• Philippians 4:13 – we live in the strength of Christ
• Ephesians 3:20 – we live in the power of prayer
